Michele Alexandra

Fine Artist

Born and raised in Taos, Michele now resides in the charming town of Dixon, New Mexico. Michele was schooled in painting at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and was a member of the B.F.A. theatre program at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The intense theatre training enable her to break free from the more restricted painting style and explore a "organic" form. She now paints in a manner known as "intuitive painting": to start without a preconceived idea, but let the colors form an image as the painting is developed. The classical training combines with this progressive technique creating innovative, contemporary work that is one of a kind and impossible to duplicate.

Michele paints with a pallet knife and oils on canvas or canvas board. She uses broad strokes and brigth colors covering the entire canvas or leaving it sparse. The use of bare canvas in some of her paintings give a dramatic pull to the subject. The negative space often says much more then the image itself. Michele's work is said to be "full of life" and "jump off the canvas", which in this medium is both literal and figurative. It is this enthusiasm and force that comes through her work and has become her trademark. Michele is prolific, determined and diverse in subjet. Her style seems to continue to evolve and demostrates a love for Asian Art.
